2023, The Year of the Rabbit

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit.

The Rabbit is known for prosperity and abundance. Traits we could use with the inflation we’ve been dealing with, right?

As you can see, I used circles, half circles and spirals as the main design elements. The spirals, I felt, suggested the rabbit’s ability to jump.  (Click on the image above to see a larger version.)

For the previous six zodiac illustrations, (all shown below) I always looked for design elements to hold the images together. For 2017’s rooster I used both straight and especially the curved lines in its tail. For 2018’s dog I used the spots. And for 2019’s boar I used the curved tusk and tail design. For 2020’s rat, I used the jagged triangles of its claws. For 2021’s ox I used the zigzag lines and circles. And for 2022’s tiger I used triangles.

These were done using Illustrator. All images are Copyright, 2017-2023, JT Morrow.

Let’s hope 2023 proves to be a good year for us all.
